How in the world did my house appreciate from 140k to 155k in a year? It didn't go up that much last year or any previous year before that.  Looks to me like the county is sucking wind and decided  to take it out on the taxpayers....

Anyone else get their evaluations and had a major increase?

Isn't it rather odd? The rest of the nation's property is decreasing in valuation and ours is increasing by leaps and bounds? If it is an actuality that would be one thing, but does anybody except the people doing the evaluating for the government really think our property value is increasing that dramatically?

Evaluations in SW KS are going up due to the sale of homes, our values are not reflecting what the rest of the economy is going through.  If you have a problem with your value all you have to do is set up an informal hearing with your counties appraiser's office and they should be able to show how they came up with that value of your property.  I would also ask the see the comp sheet they used to get your value.  I would agree with gofigure that a 15000 increase on a house is outrageous...I would call to make sure there wasn't a typo while entering your value.  Hope this helps a few.  Don't be afraid to call and protest your value you do have that right!
