Technology is cool and smartphones are awesome. Oh, except for one. The new iPhone 4.

Due to the lousy design and placement of the antenna, you have to hold it a certain way. If your hand crosses the 2 little lines around the sides of the phone you wind up with a weak signal, dropped calls, or no call at all.

Was no one in Cupertino checking this out? What happened to product testing? Should we just blindly follow Steve Jobs' advice and hold it all dainty and stuff?

Here's a somewhat politically incorrect post about holding the iPhone 4. Apple's advertising images don't show the new phone holding method. Maybe surgery is the answer?!?

So, you can change your habits or blow $29 for a nice rubber bumper from Apple.

Or maybe you should get a Droid...

The Curch of Apple has spoken, do not question the mighty one.

You are to blame and btw, the kool-aid will be ready shortly.

Latest news from Apple: We screwed up and displayed more bars than we should have. Our algorithms for determining signal strength are off. Read more at ZDNet

Huh, what? No more blaming the bad way you hold your phone. Apple now says they overstate signal strength. AT&T feeds you a crappy signal, the iPhone shows 4 bars when it should show 1, and if you happen to get your hand in the way you drop calls.

Someone needs to test their iPhone 3 vs the 4 and see what the signal indicators are. I have a feeling this is just a CYA tactic from Apple instead of admitting they designed a poor antenna system.

And King, I get enough Apple kool-aid while I'm at work. Forced to use these Mac things...

I have a Droid too, but I must hold it wrong as well, cause I do an awful lot of calling folks I didn't mean to...pocket dialing, butt dialing, even car console dialing....what's that about!   It is always someone I talked to recently....maybe even the last person I talked to...but not necessarily...very frustrating..especially for those on the other end..."hello? hello?  hello?"  and finally I locate my phone back in my pocket, or in the console of the car, or in my purse, and by the time I find it and answer the poor person on the other end has given up and texted me....This happens at least once a day.  Droid isn't a perfect world either.

Really? You don't press the button on the top of the phone to lock/shut off the screen before you put it in your pocket/purse/console?

I have had mine for awhile now and never face/butt/pocket/console dialed anyone.
