Just a reminder to you all. I got a PM in these forums from someone posing as an admin. Don't click the link it will infect your computer. I have attached a screenshot of it.

Thanks to your alert, I was able to avoid the problem, GoFigure.  I appreciate the warning and I'm sure all other members do too.  I wish you hadn't had the misfortune that you experienced.  With luck, you've already removed the virus and other junk you got saddled with.  I received the same PM that you did.  I immediately deleted it without opening.  Thanks again for warning us.

Karl, can you look into this and provide warning to all other member?  GoFigure needs to be commended for his (or her) post and good neighbor attitude.

I am an IT professional. I knew it was bad news from the get go. I would never click on that link. I just wanted to let others know that it could cost them trying to get it cleaned up.

I don't have many posts but I lurk on here quite often.

Thanks

When I found out about this yesterday morning I sent an email to all members. I assume you all got it. Over the weekend I did shut down this "ForumTeam" account, but I guess all the PM's we're sent already.

We do have a simple process for signing up here. The forum sends an email and the user clicks a link to verify they're a 'hoomin' and at an active email account. Perhaps we need to consider going to a more secured system where members have to be approved before being able to post or PM.

I'll keep watching for spaham and hackers and do my best to keep this forum openly available yet still safe.

Found the email...In my Junk email folder. Outlook 2007 automatically marked it as spam and junked it. I have added that address to my safe senders list now.

Others might want to make sure they aren't going to their junk email folder as well.

This Security Tool thing was the virus that attacked my computer last September.  For the unaware or sleepyhead, this is bad news.  I actually got the message during one of my summer insomnia sessions.  Found it about 3 am.  By the time I got my head cleared out enough to see what it was it was too late.

I didn't get this one thank goodness.  Probably in my spam.

This Security Anti Virus racket is a big pitfall for the uninitiated or unaware.
