Marcy: Garden City largely spared from economic meltdown
In the first Talk of the Town podcast, we talk with Garden City Community College economics instructor Chip Marcy about a subject that’s been on everyone’s mind lately — the economy.
Marcy gives us an idea of how bad loans and subprime mortgages got us to the point where government money is going toward bailouts and stimulus packages. We learn how the housing crisis spread to affect individuals and led to problems like unemployment and companies going out of business. And Marcy explains how Garden City, for the most part, has been spared from the most severe effects of the recession.
Talk of the Town is a podcast produced by The Garden City Telegram and sponsored by Patrick Dugan’s Coffee House.
