Riedel: Sales tax would spread the burden
In today’s Talk of the Town podcast, we talk with Alan Riedel, a member of the Finney County sales tax promotion committee.
We’re talking about a quarter-cent sales tax proposal that will be on the ballot on Tuesday. The tax would be in effect across Finney County for six years. It would take the county’s sales tax from 7.2 percent to 7.45 percent starting July 1.
The county is estimated it would bring in about $800,000 a year for the county, $800,000 for the city of Garden City and about $50,000 for Holcomb.
More information about the sales tax is available at the city of Garden City’s Web site, or by e-mailing salestaxinfo@finneycounty.org.
