Big Ticket Game
At the beginning of the men’s college basketball season, the most anticipated game would have been Kansas at Texas. Then Texas lost. And lost. And lost.
But no worries, another game is upon us that has grown greater intrigue than that lackluster Big Monday game on ESPN. Wednesday brings us Kansas State and Kansas.
However, this latest game will not be nationally televised — go figure that ESPN would miss out on the best Big 12 Conference game of the season to air UConn at Notre Dame and Duke at Maryland. Only one of those four teams is currently ranked in the top five.
Meanwhile, both Kansas State and Kansas are ranked in the top five.
But if watching it on TV isn’t your cup of tea, and you would prefer watching it live you may want to think again.
A pair of tickets for Wednesday’s game, with a parking pass, on eBay went for nearly $1,000.
Or if that’s too pricey for you, stubhub.com has tickets for a little lower prices. But the cheapest you can find on there: $374.99 for a ticket that’s just about near the rafters.
No matter where you are watching the game — unless you are like me and will be working — it guarantees to be one that both fan bases will be talking about for at least a week… Until the Big 12 Conference tournament begins in Kansas City.
By the way, a strip of tickets for all sessions to the Big 12 tournament are currently running between $395 and $2,324 on stubhub.com.
Why a boy named Suh shouldn’t win the Heisman
Every analyst in America is clamoring about Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and how he should be a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy. Well, I’m here to tell you a story about a boy named Suh.
Back on Nov. 14, Nebraska played a downtrodden offense that Suh and his teammates should have run roughshod all over. At the time, their opponent was mired in a four-game losing streak and on the verge of losing their head coach.
The opponent, was the University of Kansas. Yes, the final was 31-17, but Suh and his “Black Shirt” minions were anything short of spectacular. The only time Suh’s name was mentioned seemed to be in regards to his lack of production.

Associated Press/Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh rushes against a Florida Atlantic player during a game in Lincoln, Neb. Suh could possibly become only the second defensive player to ever win the Heisman Trophy.
Yes, analysts say his lack of production is because he is double teamed and free up his teammates.
Well, not against KU.
Suh went one-on-one for most of the game against a backup offensive lineman and came away with just 2.5 tackles and no sacks. The Nebraska defense, as a whole, recorded just one sack on this day.
A far cry from a Heisman performance against a mediocre offense. Say what you will about his performance against Texas, but it wasn’t the first time a defense stifled and sacked Colt McCoy.
In Texas’ game against Oklahoma, the Sooners ended with four sacks — two by Auston English. Oklahoma held McCoy to 21-of-40 (52.5 percent) passing for 127 yards. Nebraska, adversely, held McCoy to 20-of-36 (55.5 percent) passing and gave up 184 yards.
Nebraska’s defense is good, I will give them credit. But also realize that half of their opponents were teams from the Big 12 North — where this year, offense was not a forte for any team, including Nebraska.
It’s Basketball Season…
For those K-State fans (like my girlfriend and her family) who have been harping on me about KU’s pitiful football team of late, I repeat this once again. IT’S BASKETBALL SEASON!
It’s been basketball season for three weeks now (THANKFULLY!)…. No, I’m not a fair-weather fan, I’ll root for the KU football team until my face turns blue. But under the current circumstances (i.e. coach/player abuse), it’s hard to be a constant supporter.

That’s why for KU fans, basketball season couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only is it great for KU fans that it’s basketball season, it’s great that the men’s team is the No. 1 team in the nation — no matter what two boneheaded national reporters think about Texas and Syracuse.
This team has all the parts to do the same thing the 2008 team did. WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
From the all-american point guard (Sherron Collins) to the all-american center (Cole Aldrich) to the freshman phenom (Xavier Henry), this team has the mix to make history yet again. The one real test they have, is themselves. As long as they don’t turn on each other, this could be another memorable year for the boys in Crimson and Blue!
